IAEA Technical Departments

The Technical Departments are the ones having responsibility for the technical integrity of inputs and technical quality of the Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP).

The technical expertise and inputs that Technical Departments provide in connection with the TC Programme span the entire spectrum of the TCP, and include:

leadership in the management of Thematic Planning exercises;
technical inputs to Country Programme Frameworks;
technical appraisal of Member States’ project requests and recommendations to the TC Department regarding acceptance, rejection or reformulation of proposed projects;
technical inputs for the finalization of a proposed project’s objectives, expected results and outputs, and to the project workplan detailing the input requirements and time horizon;
technical guidance throughout the life cycle of approved TC projects, and for the assessment and closure of projects.
